Are you a newbie? Don’t you know how to set up a fishing rod properly?? Don’t worry. We are here to give you the best setup. In this article, we will explain the best way how to set up a fishing rod for beginners.

How to set up a fishing rod for beginners (step by step method):

Set-up-a-fishing-rod

It’s not a very sophisticated method. We are giving you some tips and tricks. Follow it properly. You will be a master of setting a fishing rod now:

Unite the Rod:

For starting your set up, you have to identify the parts of your fishing rod first. It has some complicated pieces of parts, and you have to know some terminologies for assembling your fishing rod first. Some rods can be broken into two parts or more. If your one is breakable, then you should know that where the two parts of your rod fit together is called the ferrule.

There are two types of ferrule, respectively, male and female. Generally, Male ferrule is fitted in the female ferrule. Where you will hold the rod is called handle or sometimes grip. The handle is an essential part of fishing comfortably.

A tip is the most flexible part of a fishing rod, which is located opposite of the handle or butt side. And finally, the fishing line goes through some small metal ring, which is called guides of a fishing rod. We think you have known those indispensable terminologies.

Now start setting up your fishing rod. Firstly, Clean the parts with a soft and dry cloth thoroughly for using more days. After cleaning the rod, try to fit your male and female ferrules by holding align on a flat surface. If the rods are not coming together, stop it and look at the user manual.

Whether there has any locking system or not. Don’t force the rods to unite together because there have some risks of damaging permanently. In most cases, you just need to rotate both the male and female ferrules together. Rotate by holding female ferrule the male piece when they are together. After doing this, you will easily be able to lock your rod.

Attach the Reel with the Rod:

You will find a fishing reel seat at the bottom of your rod. Put the Reel in the reel seat. Make sure that the lines are perfectly aligned and fitted each other. Then screw down the fishing reel until it’s enough to fit in its place.

Don’t over tighten the Reel because it will cause damage or crack in your Reel and even in the reel seat. Don’t force in doing anything when you are setting your fishing rod. If everything is okay, it will be fixed very quickly.

Threading:

Threading your rod will be started by lifting the bale arm. Bale's arm is a silver piece that is located on the Reel. You will be easily able to flip it up to the other side of the Reel by giving a small amount of pressure on it. Then pull the edge of the thread.

You Reel will unroll the thread when pulling the edge of the thread. Here some precautions are don’t give more pressure on the bale arm. If everything is okay, it will lift up easily. Then you have to thread the line through the guides of the rod.

Most of the rods have five to six guides. Start threading your fishing line from the closest guide of the Reel. Continue threading your line through the guide to the last one.

Once you finish the threading, you will simply pull the bale arm in the opposite direction in which direction you lifted it before for closing the bale arm. You can test it that you did it right or wrong by pulling the line gently. No more line will come out after closing the bale arm.

Selection of Lure:

Now, you have to choose a lure for your fishing. Some necessary things should be in your consideration when you are selecting lure. You have to choose a right-colored lure which goes with the weather. On a sunny day, you should pick the silver color, which will reflect light and attract attention. Besides, on a cloudy day, you can choose a golden color which will go with that day.

Choose-Proper-Fishing-Lure

Another thing is the lure style. Lure styles should be based on what kind of fish you want to catch and where you want to conduct your fishing trip. If it’s in freshwater, you can pick a jig for you. The jig works well in freshwater. A spoon lure will be good when you are catching small fishes.

If you want to take all advantages in a single lure, you have to choose a spinner. Spinner is a metal piece that moves in the water and attracts fishes in the right way. Another considering thing in watercolor.

If your watercolor is muddy or dirty, you need spinner or a spoon, which makes a lot of vibration in the water. Even if fishes can see the lure, but the vibrations will attract them. But in freshwater, vibration and movement can scare the fishes. That’s why you need to consider these issues when you are selecting a lure for your fishing trip.

Fixing the Lure:

Then, you have to attach the lure with your line. Firstly, thread your wire through the lure and leave ten to twelve inches line on the other side of the lure. Next, pull the free line back upper side towards the remaining wire.

Coil the line together for five to six times. Then take the end of the line and put it towards the lure and loop it through the line, fold it once more within itself. You will find it is coming underneath the line. After doing all these things, you have to fasten the tie. Hold the front and the end of the line too. Pull them together. This will wind the line tightly.

In most circumstances, you will find a hook with your lure. But if you want to use live-baits for your fishing, you need to add hook with the line. That is not a matter of being worried. You will find a single or double hook easily in any nearby shop. You can carry different types of hooks with you so that you can use different situations.

Mainly these are the steps of setting up your fishing rod. Once you complete these steps, attached lure with your line, you are ready to start fishing. These are the basic rules to set up your fishing rod. It is not a matter that what kinds of fishes you want to catch. For any fishing trip, these rules are applicable.
